Use amex Points to Book Airline tickets

American Express credit Cardmembers using www.americanexpress.com/travel can use Membership Rewards points to cover all or part of the costs of any airline ticket, hotel room and cruise

American Express Membership Rewards program allowing Cardmembers to use Membership Rewards points to book travel directly on the American Express travel website without blackout dates or restrictions for airlines, hotels or cruises.

The Membership Rewards program already provides extremely rich travel rewards with access to 23 airline partners, 15 of which offer Cardmembers the ability to point transfer directly into their airline frequent flier program, access to more than 250 hotel partners, and almost 40 luxury cruise liners.

The Membership Rewards program gives Cardmembers the most flexibility of any rewards program to redeem points in the way they want for travel. American Express has designed this new functionality as a one-step, easy- to-use part of the online travel experience. After logging-in to the travel booking site and selecting their preferred airline ticket, accommodations or cruise, Cardmembers are given the option to redeem Membership Rewards points to cover all or part of their trip. Cardmembers will be alerted to their point balance and can use an online tool to determine the amount of points needed to redeem for the travel selected.

"Through the Membership Rewards program, we strive to provide our customers with flexible, attainable travel reward choices that fit their needs while providing a great customer experience," said Ralph Andretta, senior vice president and general manager, Membership Rewards, American Express. "Offering customers the ability to use Membership Rewards points instantly without restrictions for their travel - including for any of the multitude of airlines available on the American Express travel website - strengthens our redemption offerings and gives our customers' even greater choice."

Our goal is to give our Cardmembers the most comprehensive, flexible and hassle-free experience when booking their trips. At americanexpress.com, we've given consumers the best combination of ease of use, competitive rates, travel choices and booking options and addressed the concerns many travelers have about booking travel online, giving them peace-of-mind before they travel."

The American Express consumer travel site offers a full range of competitive travel rates and discounts on airfares, hotels, last minute deals, as well as cruises and full vacation packages, with optional transfers, sight- seeing tours and insurance. In addition to the flexibility of booking travel anytime, to anywhere, on virtually any airline, Cardmembers visiting www.americanexpress.com/travel will find competitive rates - including Lowest Rate Guaranteed hotel options - eliminating the need to surf multiple sites for low prices on travel. Customers who prefer booking through a travel counselor can find the right person for their needs using the American Express Travel Office locator and Travel Specialist finder tools(2). The site recently underwent a comprehensive redesign, featuring easier navigation and a private label version of the easy-to-use booking interface developed by Travelocity, along with its low fares and rates.

It also offers customized booking tools for cruises and American Express Vacations packages, last minute bargains and special promotional offers. Plus, any customer using the site can rely on the security of American Express' 24-hour service, which is available before, during and after a trip. SWISS air add Beijing to Zurich flights

Swiss International Air Lines is to introduce daily non-stop flights between Zurich and Beijing. The new service to China’s capital, which will commence on 11 February 2012, marks a further expansion in SWISS’s service of the growing Chinese market, a development that began with the addition of Shanghai to the network in May 2008.

“I am delighted that, as the airline of Switzerland, we can meet the needs of Swiss business and further expand our non-stop services to and from the growing Chinese market,” says SWISS CEO Harry Hohmeister. “At the same time, we are also seeing a growing demand for tourist travel in both directions.”

Beijing and Shanghai are the two most important business and trading centres in China. SWISS also serves a third Chinese destination, Hong Kong. The new route marks a return to Beijing for SWISS: the airline previously served China’s capital until June 2003.

SWISS will also be modifying arrangements on its Zurich-Newark route, which is currently operated by an all-business-class PrivatAir Boeing 737. From 31 March 2012 onwards, SWISS will use its own long-haul aircraft on the route with a three-class cabin configuration and substantially-increased seating capacity. The operation will also be expanded to daily service.

Air Canada Flights to New Orleans in October

Air Canada started daily direct flights between Toronto and New Orleans on October 2010 using 75-seat, Bombardier CRJ705 regional jets operated by partner regional airline Jazz Air.

From October 30, flight AC7971 depart Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) at 9:50 a.m. local time and arrive at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) at noon. The return flight, AC7972, will depart MSY at 12:35 p.m. and arrive at YYZ at 4:20 p.m. local time.

The flight will be the only daily, non-stop service between the two cities, according to Air Canada. The airline has operated services to New Orleans in the past.

This new route is in direct competition to WestJet, who announced a couple of days ago that they would also be featuring a service to New Orleans from Pearson International Airport, however, it will not be a daily run.

Customers will enjoy the choice of two classes of service, Its CRJ705s feature 10 Executive class seats and 65 Economy class seeats and offer seatback, personal tv entertainment throughout the aircraft.

'This route further enhances our Toronto hub at Lester B. Pearson International Airport where our operations are centralized in a single terminal with streamlined customs procedures, making it an extremely convenient gateway to and from the U.S. and an ideal transfer point for domestic, transborder and international travelers connecting to our extensive global network.'

airline tickets better to book online or agent

What is the better way to book airline tickets is it thru travel agent or book online
I always book with a travel agent. It is easier, safer, and you get more service and knowledge than you can get with online sites like Expedia,
I would suggest you first go to a travel agency and you will see people there who are experts. After this visit you will know lots more about travel and prices. Then go online and see if you can get a better deal. If not, stick to the travel agency as they give a lot of service.
I was looking for a trip to Las Vegas, so I looked online. This price for room and airline tickets was $862(lowest) for a 3day/2night. So i called around to some travel agents and found the same stay would be $240(lowest) for Room and flight total. So keep on looking.

As far as the best travel agent, this is hard to say. The best thing I can tell you to do is to find an agent that specializes in your area of trave, i.e. cruises, Rome, etc. This way they will have the most knowledge and know more about the destination than you could possibly find online. They will be able to help you plan the vacation, find the best locations, know what documents you need, etc. The information is very helpful and will help to ensure you that you get a very nice and relaxing vacation. A vacation that you do not have to worry about and can sit back while they take care of your plans. Some areas of travel are a little more detailed than others as far as passport requirements, what you need to know before you go, etc. So a travel agent is able to give you all of this knowledge.

are air flights expensive in november

I think it's cheaper to book airlines flights during the winter months.in november Tickets tend to be cheapest after everyone has go on vacation. September and October tend to be the off-peak season since lots of families with children will not be traveling due to kids being in school. From the UK, Christmas are the peak times as those are the times people are visiting relatives.January is peak travel season for many destinations in the Caribbean. February and March is a good time to fly to Europe. airlines flights is almost always the most expensive in the summer.Try going during the week and not during weekends. Also, if your planning on going during the summer, you should start buying now, because it gets more and more expensive as seats are taken.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. Im Flying Manchester To JFK With A 4 star Hotel In October With Expedia And Its Only £395 Each, check out the website and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders.

us airways stop service in wichita Airport

U.S. Airways no longer fly out of Wichita Airport,US Airways announced that it is making the following changes to facilitate the realignment strategy: reducing Las Vegas (LAS) flights from 64 to 36 daily departures by February 2010 as a result of high fuel prices and continued weak demand associated with the Las Vegas market; closing stations in Colorado Springs (COS) and Wichita (ICT) and moving that flying to more profitable routes across its three hubs; redeploying the airline`s 15 E-190 aircraft on routes between Boston (BOS) and Philadelphia and on the Boston-LaGuardia (LGA) leg of the US Airways Shuttle
Spokeswoman Valerie Wunder says “sustained unprofitability” is the reason.
“Wichita has been unprofitable for a number of years for U.S. Airways,” she says.
U.S. Airways has been in and out of the Wichita market for more than two decades.
“We were really surprised to see their announcement because their loads have been full,” says Valerie Wise, Wichita Airport Authority air service and business development manager.
The airline offers two flights a day to Phoenix. Mesa Airlines handles the operation for U.S. Airways. “Well, it’s a loss of a . . . nonstop destination — a very popular destination,” Wise says. There are no other nonstop flights to Phoenix from Wichita. Wunder isn’t sure when Wichita became unprofitable for the company or if it was ever profitable. “I don’t have how far back it’s been, but it’s been fairly consistent recently,” Wunder says. The airline isn’t announcing any other canceled markets at this time. Wunder won’t say if the airline will reconsider Wichita at some point. “I really don’t want to speculate on that.”

cost of flight to new york flying southwest

Southwest Airlines offer cheap flights to New York's LaGuardia Airport, the carrier's first entry into the major market.

The move not only helps Southwest push into one of the country's busiest airports, but it also taps into budget-conscious travelers' desire for low-cost fares during the recession.

The Dallas-based company have eight daily nonstop flights - flying five times to new york LaGuardia from Chicago Midway and three between LaGuardia and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. A one-way ticket price to BWI will run $49, cost of flight to new york from Chicago one-way fare will be $89 if purchased 14 days in advance.

Southwest also provide direct or connecting service from LGA to locations such as Las Vegas, Denver, Seattle, San Diego and lax.
The LaGuardia addition will now put Southwest in the company of low-cost carrier JetBlue Airways Corp., which also services the airport but does not provide Chicago or BWI flights from the hub. JetBlue does however offer flights to the cities from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Prior to LaGuardia, Southwest's closest hub for New York-based travelers was Long Island's Islip Airport.

The carrier, which recently start fly to Minneapolis, has said that it is starting flights at Boston's Logan International Airport in the fall. While Southwest is expanding into some major U.S. markets, the airline has also been cutting unprofitable routes and said it will lower capacity 4 percent this year.

higher oil prices more expensive to fly

Airlines have used higher oil prices to justify ticket price increases of up to $60 per ticket since the start of the year. But the rising cost of fuel isn't the only reason it's getting more expensive to fly.
The improving economy, a shrinking supply of seats and industry consolidation are also to blame.
The most recent came Monday, when Delta raised fares up to $20 for a round trip and United raised them up to $10 for a round trip on most domestic routes. Most other carriers followed suit.
Even before turmoil in the Middle East drove oil prices higher, airlines tickets were more expensive. The average cost of a round-trip ticket on a U.S. airline was $360 before taxes at the start of 2011, a 9 per cent increase from the previous year. By summer that figure could reach $430, says Robert Herbst, an independent airline analyst.
American Airlines raised U.S. fares by $10 per round trip on Wednesday. If its competitors follow — as is customary — it would be the seventh broad price hike this year by U.S. airlines.
It isn't just the base fare getting more expensive. Checking bags, reserving an aisle seat and other services are no longer universally free.
Another change working against leisure travellers is the budding dispute between airlines and online travel sites. The airlines want to pay the sites lower commissions for each ticket purchased. The result for fliers: Not all available flights can be found on some sites. For instance, Orbitz, Expedia and Hotwire no longer list American Airlines flights.
"It's just more work for the consumer to figure out who has the best fare," says Anne Banas, executive editor of travel advice site SmarterTravel.
oil prices topped $3 a gallon last week and is now up almost 50 per cent from last year. Even if prices rise no further, airlines will have to raise average fares by 10 per cent just to break even, says Herbst.
Some high-traffic business and leisure routes, such as New York to Los Angeles, will see large hikes, Parsons says. The cheapest fare between those cities last July was $382. This year, it's $544. Parsons notes a handful of domestic routes, such as Dallas to San Francisco, are down thanks to new competition.
International routes aren't offering any relief, either. The cheapest available August flight from Miami to Paris cost $1,250 this week, 53 per cent higher than last year, according to SmarterTravel.
Vacationers looking for the cheapest tickets should aim to fly on Tuesday and Wednesday, the least busy days for the industry, Parsons says.
Booking hotel and air packages can also yield savings. Here's an extreme recent example found online: A trip to Las Vegas included two round-trip tickets on US Airways, three nights at the Excalibur hotel and two free show tickets, all for less than the cost of many round-trip fares to Las Vegas .

southwest airlines flights to mexico destinations

Southwest Airlines customers can now purchase flights to Mexico operated by the
Mexican low cost carrier Volaris. The two airlines offer Customers a seamless travel experience to a wide array of destinations.
Volaris is known for competitive pricing and an end-to-end operations model that has earned the airline the reputation for being Mexico's most ontime carrier. Volaris operates a modern fleet of 18 Airbus A319 and an A320 aircraft with an average age of 2.17 years.

"Our international expansion will happen with the best possible partner for a carrier of our characteristics -- that is Southwest Airlines. We are certain that the codeshare will allow business, leisure, and visiting friends and family traffic to increase on both sides of the border," said Volaris Chief Executive Officer Enrique Beltranena.
19 Southwest cities have connecting schedules to five Mexican destinations (Cancun, Guadalajara, Morelia, Toluca/Mexico City, and Zacatecas)
They are Sacramento (SMF), Oakland (OAK), San Jose (SJC), Tucson (TUS), El Paso (ELP), Las Vegas (LAS), Seattle (SEA), Portland (PDX), Salt Lake City (SLC), Reno (RNO), Albuquerque (ABQ), Phoenix (PHX), Denver (DEN), Ontario (ONT), San Francisco (SFO), Orange County (SNA), Burbank (BUR), Boise (BOI), and Spokane (GEG).

Can't get your booking to work?

There are a number of reasons why your desired itinerary might not be loading (and generating an Oops message).

* There are no Volaris flights scheduled that day for the city you desire. For example, Volaris flights to Morelia and Zacatecas do not operate daily. Flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Morelia (MLM) are on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and between Los Angeles (LAX) and Zacatecas (ZCL) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. (all Volaris schedules are subject to change).

* There might not be any seats available for each leg of the itinerary you have requested.

* There might only be a one-way itinerary available and you have a requested a round trip.

how to reschedule postpone tickets in emirates

emirates air tickets have Fare Conditions attached to them which determine the price of that ticket. The most common conditions to be aware of are those governing whether a ticket is refundable and whether additional charges will be imposed in the event that your travel plans change. Different fares will have different conditions, and a ticket that allows you to postpone or reschedule your travel without charge or to receive a full refund if you cancel your travel plans will be more expensive, but still possibly desirable if flexibility is important to your plans.

Be sure to ask emirates airlines reservations agent about the Fare Conditions associated with the flights you are considering. If you are booking online, simply click ‘Fare Conditions’ to view the rules relating to any given flight before adding it to your itinerary. If you do have any queries about these conditions, please contact your local Emirates office, as these conditions will apply after purchase.

For cancellations and amendments received outside of 72 hours prior to scheduled date of arrival in Dubai, no charges will apply. Visa charges are non-refundable once the visa is arranged - regardless of the time frame.
No refund will be made for any part of the booking that has not been utilised (e.g. breakfast or other services).
For cancellation notices relating to all hotels received 72 hours or less prior to scheduled date of arrival in Dubai, including the day of arrival into Dubai or for 'no-shows', the total cost of the booking will be charged. Visa charges are non-refundable once the visa is arranged - regardless of the time frame.

In addition, business travelers who have premium prepaid monthly parking at the airport will also be able to take advantage of the faster security lines.

“We think this new customer service program will be a welcome addition at JAX,” said Michael Stewart, JAA Director of External Affair. “The new security express lane will be especially good news to our frequent business travelers.” JAA will announce the start date soon.
JAA is also planning to re-institute the registered traveler program once a contractor can be identified. Delta airlines flights price Increase

The major U.S. airlines will Increase fares for the seventh time this year, following a $10 round-trip price increase by United Continental Holdings Inc. and a rival carrier delta airlines move to recalibrate pricing.

Fare experts said Delta started the latest increase on Monday, which was matched immediately by American and a day later by United, Continental and US Airways.

Delta airlines confirmed the price hike but declined to give a reason. United, Continental and US Airways confirmed that they too raised prices.
FareCompare.com Chief Executive Rick Seaney on Tuesday said he expected Delta to come back with a $10 match, followed by US Airways. And Delta and US Airways indeed matched the $10 hike shortly after noon today.
American Airlines spokesman Ed Martelle said the increases covered first-class, business-class and tickets purchased up to seven days before travel. Flights up to 500 miles were boosted $20 each way, those from 501 to 1,500 miles were raised $40 each way, and flights longer than 1,500 miles increased by $60 each way, he said.

Rick Seaney, CEO of FareCompare.com said low-fare airlines wouldn't be able to block this increase because the tickets are sold at prices far higher than the discount carriers were already charging.

Airlines also claim that demand for leisure travel will be hurt if passenger fees for security and airport improvements are raised, as President Barack Obama proposed in his budget this week.

The proposed increases would add a few dollars per flight to the cost of a ticket, but Baker said it could reduce revenue especially at airlines such as Southwest, which cater to price-conscious travelers.

Why emirates airline tickets expensive

Why is united emirates airline tickets more expensive than other airlines

While many European and Asian airlines are known for superior in-flight service, Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways have eclipsed these offerings, winning numerous awards for excellence. They are rapidly becoming the favorites of many business travelers. Besides limousine service on the ground, Emirates offers gourmet dining, 1,000 channels of in-flight entertainment, and private first-class suites complete with fully stocked individual mini-bars. Their new Airbus A380's have two showers on board with spas large enough to accommodate an entire family. although Emirates were voted the most expensive airlines in the UAE.customer are willing to pay the price for better service.

Emirates is one of several rapidly growing airlines based on the Arabian peninsula, a group that includes Abu Dhabi-based Etihad and Qatar Airways. These carriers boast brand new fleets of long-range, widebody aircraft and offer some of the finest service and accommodations in the sky.

Armed with new fleets, Emirates and the other airlines in that region are well-positioned to compete for long-range premium global air traffic routed through their centrally located Middle Eastern hubs. The recent economic boom in India and Asia, along with the introduction of a new generation of economical long range aircraft, like the Airbus A380, the Boeing 777LR, and forthcoming Boeing 787 and Airbus 350, make nonstop travel viable between cities clear across the globe. Previously, to reach most cities in Africa, India or the Middle East, U.S. travelers connected through major European transfer airports, like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, or Paris. Emirates and the other airlines in that region have another huge advantage over U.S. and European airlines. From Dubai, Emirates serves ten nonstop destinations in India, four cities in Pakistan, more than a dozen cities in the Middle East, a similar number of African destinations, more than 20 European cities, and another 20 or so ports of call in Asia and the Pacific. No European airline covers that breadth and depth of destinations outside Europe, and all U.S. airlines combined serve only two cities in India and four in the Middle East, with Delta as the only U.S. airline flying to Africa.
