Iberia VIP Lounge in Mexico City airport

On March 15th Iberia will open its new VIP loounge at Mexico City's international airport, where its best customers can wait for their flights in comfort.

Located in the boarding area of Terminal 1, the lounge can accommodate up to 85 passengers in a 515-sq.m space, equipped with all the comforts and services for rest, recreation, or work.

The design is in the style that distinguishes the three VIP lounges in Terminal 4 of Iberia's Madrid-Barajas hub, regarded as among the best in the world. It has a rest area and reading room, a television zone, a relaxation lounge, a working area with online computers and free Wi-Fi for all guests, a checkroom, and the latest newspapers and magazines.

Exquisite food service includes a variety of fresh fruit, and wide range of yoghurts, cereals, and both sweet and salty snacks. There is also a variety of breads and sandwiches, as well as individual salads. Hot and cold beverages include soft drinks, water, juices, coffee, tea, and infusions. Spanish and international beers and wines, spirits, liqueurs, and champagnes are also served. In the afternoons and evenings a hot dish is available on demand.

The lounge will be open from 09:00 until 21:00 h., to serve Iberia passengers on the two flights operated daily from Mexico City, departing at 12:20 h. and at 21:00 h.

Iberia has signed an agreement with the Melia hotel chain to attent to the customers in the lounge, following the current model in Iberia VIP lounges at Madrid airport.

The project was part of the company's comprehensive Customer Service Upgrade programme, implemented in 2009-2011, during which Iberia spent some 150 million euros to make number of improvements, such as the remodelling of VIP lounges in key airports, including those of Madrid, Valencia, and Bilbao in Spain, Frankfurt in Germany, Paris Orly in France and Santo Domingo, Miami, and Mexico City in the Americas. Next in line are those of Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.

Mexico, a Major Iberia Destination

Iberia is the leading airline on routes between Europe and Latin America, with the biggest offer of non-stop flights and destinations. Each week it operates some 266 flights. Mexico City outranks the Spanish airline's other Latin American destination, with two direct flights nearly every day.

Iberia uses its largest aircraft on the Mexico City route, the Airbus A340-300 and the Airbus A340-600. Weekly seat capacity amounts to more than 5,600. In 2011, Iberia will offer 430,000 seats on its flights between Madrid and Mexico, an increase of 24% compared to 2009.

Flight offer to fly to Mexico in Business Class
At the airport, passengers flying Business Plus have exclusive check-in counters, a larger luggage allowance, access to the VIP lounges. On board, the Business Plus main features are a seat that turns into a horizontal bed, an on demand entertainment system and menus based on the Meditarrean cuisine together with the best Spanish wines.
