Air China launched a nonstop flights from Chengdu to Tokyo on September 22, 2010. Air China is the first airline to launch a direct route to Japan from Southwest China Sichuan province.

Air China direct route from Chengdu to Tokyo narita airport. Flights are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays. With the flight number CA423/4, using Boeing 757 or Airbus A319 aircraft. Outbound flights will depart Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on 11:30 and arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport at 17:00. Return flights will leave Tokyo at 18:20 and arrive in Chengdu at 22:40 local time.
Previously, Air China launched three routes from Chengdu to Japan, including the Chengdu-Beijing-Tokyo and Chengdu-Shanghai-Nagoya routes with flights available daily, and the Chengdu-Dalian-Osaka route with three flights available every week.
